Customer Need:

The Swaliga Foundation inspires at-risk youth in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area, in areas of art, creativity, authenticity and community.

Their latest project is titled “The Melanin King”.  The project, consisting of a film and album, is designed to inspire and educate on a variety of topics including the history of the West African Mali Empire, social justice, and creative force of will.

Young people are provided with the opportunity to engage in the creative processes of both a music album and film project development. In addition to nurturing the creative abilities of these young artists, the Melanin King Project serves as a catalyst for creating strong mentor and mentee relationships with young people who are closely related in age.. Another unique aspect of this project is that the Arts education provided to these young people is seamlessly blended with the invaluable knowledge and methodology found through the Swaliga Foundation’s S.T.R.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Reading, σ Engineering, Arts, & Math) curriculum and workshops.

In order to promote the project, The Swaliga Foundation asked VIRTUALVillage Media to create the artwork.

Solution:

We created the artwork that clearly communicates the native tribal message of the project.  The piece was used for promotion via printed posters and fliers, email campaigns, social media campaigns, web advertisements, print invitations and more.

Result:

The Swaliga Foundation anticipates to tour internationally with artwork developed by VIRTUALVillage Media.
