Do you think private business have the right to discriminate who they deliver services to based on race, sex, religion, etc?  Or is this a violation of the civil rights movement?

Check out the Rachel Maddow clip from MSNBC.

Ky. gov criticizes Paul’s ‘radical philosophy’…

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky’s Democratic governor criticized Republican U.S. Senate nominee Rand Paul on Monday for comments he made last week deriding the 1964 Civil Rights Act and described the political newcomer’s libertarian leanings as “fairly radical.”

Paul told MSNBC host Rachel Maddow that he abhors racial discrimination, but suggested the federal government shouldn’t have the power to force restaurants to serve minorities if business owners don’t want to.

“It causes me great concern that a person standing for public office in the commonwealth of Kentucky does not believe that government has a role in making sure that every person in this country, regardless of race, color, creed, religion or whatever, has the same equal opportunity to eat at the lunch counter in a department store,” Gov. Steve Beshear said.

“This was settled 50 years ago. It’s very disturbing that … a person running for public office and has the nomination of a major political party in our state has that kind of philosophy.”

  • The video of the people being kicked and hit was unbearable to watch. My bleeding heart says that this behavior is intolerable. My business mind believes in free enterprise and that it will eventually be to a companies demise if they choose to discriminate in our current society.

  • The entire American Hiring system, whether private, public, government or even under-the-table is all discrimination. This is the reason why hundreds of thousands of African-Americans are out of work. It is one of the most hypocritical systems ever. George Washington didn’t recruit people based on a credit report, what school they went to, how many references or what organization they belong to.  And any political party that calls themselves “Grand Ol” Party doesn’t sound like its for the “people” as a whole, but a select few. Even Free enterprise is not “Free”. I worked on Wall Street, I rarely seen an African-American get a round of seed capital. Matter of fact I seen only one, and he was Nigerian. This country is set up to instill institutional slavery. They follow the Mayan Calendar, the Mayan’s also believed in human blood sacrifice.  To them, someone must suffer for their Gods. Using the hiring system is just one of the weapon of choice for them. hmmm  Peace
